There was time when
tourists came to India; they traveled all across to
see the village life in the country. Decades of
independence later the number of metros that exist
in the country have increased. It is now said that
by the end of this century nearly 305 million
Indians will be living in cities and satellite
towns.
The four big metros Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and
Kolkatta are densely populated. The population has
spread to small towns like Pune, Jaipur, Cochin,
Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Of
these the last two cities have grown in stature,
economics and social status. With the increasing
population real estate activity in most of these
cities have registered a whooping increase.
The property demand is increasing the supply. What’s
more residential property today is just not four
walls or basic amenities. Today individual houses
and small storey houses have been replaced by
housing societies, condos, and self-contained
townships.
A residential property is a much sought after asset
especially in prime localities. Having a roof over
the head also means luxuries like club house, gym
facilities, parks, playground for children, enough
car parking space, security, 24 hours water supply,
cable TV connection, annual maintenance or property
management. In high-end societies the premium is on
double-parking, enhanced security systems, alarm
